Hood

Snow melt is for the mountain, not your helmet.

Storm ready hood

Other hoods allow snow to melt and drip into your goggles. Our weighted design sheds moisture, keeping your vision clear. The Nivis hood fully encapsulates your helmet, blocking wind and snow. The stiff weighted brim creates a secure seal, and extends forward to prevent snow from melting into your goggles and causing fog.

Max Aliento Fabric

Water repellent on a molecular level

Hydrophilic isn’t a term you hear often with waterproofing, because it’s the opposite of hydrophobic (repelling water). But our manufacturing partner uses it ingeniously with a new kind of membrane whose chemical structure attracts water vapor (sweat) while also physically blocking liquid water entirely. All this science just means that the Protego Pro Shell has great breathability while keeping you dry. And the result of this new membrane is a waterproofing rating of 25K. The only other people buying apparel with ratings this high — deep sea fishermen.

Pockets

Bigger pockets seemed impossible, so we re-engineered the entire jacket.

Revolutionary pockets. Really.

Every manufacturer creates a jacket with a powder skirt OR roomy interior drop pockets. Thankfully, no one told us doing both was impossible before we did it anyway. Instead of just stitching on mesh interior pockets in the leftover space of the jacket, we re-engineered the entire structure.

Now the lining of the Protego Pro Shell itself accommodates cavernous sealable drop pockets along with a stretchy removable powder skirt — we haven’t seen anyone else do this. Add this to our fleece lined exterior hand pockets, RFID sleeve pass pocket, Aerogel phone pocket, chest pockets, and you have a place for all your stuff and even a friend’s.

AEROGEL POCKET

The Protego Pro Shell uses three layers of 4-way stretch fabric, with an articulated placement of the sleeves sewn against the body of the jacket upward, to be in a more natural athletic position for skiers. With an extra size between medium and large, and ski-length sleeves, it’s a recipe for feeling like yourself on the mountain - not like your outerwear.

FIT FOR MOVEMENT

The YKK Aquaguard zipper is the gold standard when it comes to outerwear zippers that help keep your jacket waterproof. With a waterproof film applied to the reverse side of the zipper chain and a durable water repellent treatment on the front, no snow or water should leak in through the teeth of your zipper, even when it’s pelted by the elements.

You may never really know when an avalanche could trigger, which is why we include RECCO reflectors on every jacket. They’re lightweight passive transponders that require no power or activation, used by emergency rescuers to locate you in an avalanche or other life threatening scenario.
